This morning, I found myself, out-of-body, visiting my childhood neighbor Tom. I’ve always loved Tom madly, as Tom has ALWAYS been true to himself. He lives completely from his authentic self, and doesn’t worry about what others might think about him. I wish more people were like Tom.
If you were to see Tom on the street, you might judge him by how he looks; without knowing what a kind and loving soul is inside of his organic body suit. Tom is just Tom, and Tom operates on “Tom’s time.” We jokingly call him, “The Midnight Farmer.” Tom has mastered living in the moment; not tomorrow. He does love to revisit the past with great reverence, laughter, a sparkle in his eye, and love of the moment.
Tom doesn’t care how he dresses or looks, because he’s just completely happy with himself. He still has his 1970’s Mullet hairstyle. His hair is down to his waist; tied back in a pony tail, and a long beard down his chest. It often has hay in it, because Tom is a hay farmer. My friend Joanie has nicknamed Tom, “Hay Dude.” Got to love it.
He’s much grayer now; just like me. He looks like a wilderness man. He wears old torn, oil-stained clothes in several layers; even in summer. He has the most striking blue eyes I’ve ever seen, and has the most amazing facial expressions. He often doesn’t even have to talk, because I can read his face; it’s awesome.
This morning, just before sunrise, I found myself with Tom; out of our bodies of course. He’s still living on the farm in Western New York (Upstate) State, and I’m here in East Tennessee. Tom was sitting in a chair at his place, and I was standing in front of him; chatting. We were having a insightful conversation about success. Tom is a very deep thinker, so moments like these are quite special.
To look at Tom on the outside, you would not know what lies deep within, and the intellect of his mind. This is a man that can look at something, analyze it for a bit, and create something from bits and pieces of odds and ends; junk.
Tom doesn’t drive a new vehicle, he could if he would want one, however, it wouldn’t be as fulfilling for him, because Tom is a creator. Let’s face it, if the vehicle was new, there wouldn’t be any achievement in keeping it running.
During our conversation this morning on the topic of success, we agreed that willingness is crucial to success. Without willingness, people are unable to change not only things; but themselves for the better. This is a deep soul expression; willingness.
Willingness separates the wheat from the chaff; quickly. You are either willing or not, to venture off the beaten path into the woods; usually alone in your journey; without a map to guide you through the darkness.
They don’t call me the Goddess of Strategic Warfare for nothing. Yes, Strategic Warfare; NOT War!
I am a peace-loving soul that looks at things from a multitude of angles; creatively. The journey through the wilderness to success, can be an arduous battle within, with twists and turns along the way that can lead you astray, or keep on your path to success; IF you choose willingness. It’s the choices we make within; not without that will ultimately allow us to FIND what it is we SEEK.
The choices that we make are often faith-based. Faith comes in many forms. There is faith in the divine, faith in knowingness, but most importantly; faith in self. That is one of the things that Tom and I have in common; self-based faith.
Tom and I don’t seem to know the words, “I can’t.“, those words are not in our vocabulary, rather, it’s How about this…or this, or this? If we don’t succeed the first time, we try again, and again; if necessary. Sometimes you have to take the flank approach; something unconventional.
Success is not an end result, but the journey to it; it’s a growth experience. This journey should always be through the heart, for heart-based journeys NEVER fail. The truths lie in the heart; not the head. SEEK through your heart with passion, and your successes will be great. Seek without, well, good luck.
Success is not based on how much “stuff” you accumulate throughout your life. It is not monetary wealth, as that is temporary. Ultimately, success is based on how well you loved your journey, and those you touched during your journey, and how well you loved.
The road to success is up to you, and defined by you. Never let fear (false evidence appearing real) stand in your way, of your willingness to achieve, what you think is not achievable. You are far more powerful and unique than you know. Sometimes you just have to put yourself out there!
