I wanted to talk to all of you about Kundalini Yoga. It’s also called “noisy” yoga because of the breathing technique used during the poses. Kundalini Yoga is about awakening the Kundalini energies within us; the inner potential energy that lies latent in every individual.
Kundalini yoga combines mantras, meditation, movement, and breathing techniques that help us with self-awareness and delivering an experience of your highest consciousness. It also helps us call upon the full potential of the nervous and glandular systems and to balance the subtle system of chakras and meridians within the body. It also helps us achieve a deeper meditation.
Kundalini yoga is good for mental clarity which allows you to feel more “present,” but you become more aware of your senses, body functions, and energy levels; resulting in a calmer, more peaceful state of mind. The best part is that it can lead to “universal consciousness” or enlightenment.
I personally like Kundalini Yoga for all of the reasons listed above, but also for the wonderful stretching that my body needs for lower back issues. Many of the poses work the sciatic nerve in the lower back and legs. It also keeps my joints flexible, which is very important as we age.
Being a spirit having a physical experience, we need to not only take care of our spiritual needs but also that of our body. This includes our mental and physical health.
